Today, October 4th is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisiāa Catholic saint loved by all traditions. And one of my favourites. He was inside, yet outside of the ‘system’, the system being organised religion. He basically, did his own thing and listened to his higher self. He listened to what God was telling him, he listened and he acted on it. Francis may be most famous for his love of nature and animals, which is why he is the patron saint of ecology. Yet, most forget his courage in a time when unlike today stepping out of the norm of society was far from easy; it was life-threatening. But, he did it. I heard or read once that Francis had a near-death experience when he was at war, this could explain his sudden turnaround and change of character. Whatever forced Francis to change from loving the material world to loving God; whether it was circumstance or truly a change of heart; my guess is the former. Because dramatic experience tends to have a dramatic effect on one, and Francis was dramatically changed. In his own quiet and gentle way he started a revolution. A revolution which has had ripple effects down the centuries to this very day and for many more to come. Francis’ vibration of love, just like the Christ and others like him has raised the frequency of this planet and beyond more than any of us will ever realise. Do not let the harmless image of Francis with flowers and birds fool you, he was far from being simple and naive. He was a force of cosmic consequence, that even he himself may not have been aware of at the time. He was a master and either did not know or wish to admit it. He radiated love to a degree that still shines today. He embraced the Oneness of all of creation. For Francis knew no separation, he lived completely in unity God consciousness, at one with everything and everyone. We can learn so much from this transparent, uncomplicated cosmic creature. As he said,
Pax et Bonum, (peace and goodwill).
